Recipe of the week-Crock Pot Oatmeal
I love the crock pot! I wish I could make every meal in the crock pot. Its so easy and everything always tastes yummy. I recently started making oatmeal in the crock pot and it is so good! We eat oatmeal almost every morning and this recipe just makes it all that much better and easier.
You have to use steel cut oats, that is key! I get the organic steel cut oats from Trader Joe’s but any kind will do.
Before you go to bed (I put mine on around 10 or 11pm) mix in your crock pot:
4 cups water
1/2 cup milk
1 cup steel cut oats
Cover with lid. Turn on low.
Go to bed.
8-9 hours later you have the most perfect oatmeal!
For us this will usually last us 2 mornings, i just put the leftovers in a container and heat up with a little milk the next morning. You can get even fancier by putting in some cinnamon , fruit, vanilla, etc.. before you cook, but I haven’t done all that yet. We just add some fruit and a little brown sugar after its cooked and its ready to go!
